Our beach, situated in North Wales in the UK near Point of Ayr, with its well established dune system is an SSI (Site of Scientific Interest) and home to a variety of bird life. At the north end is a Nature Reserve, though the only clue to its being such is a battered old sign! Not many people venture that far; visitors, sun-seekers, etc always congregate near the beach entrance. When the tide’s in, apart from the dunes and the lighthouse there’s little to make this beach particularly special. It’s when the tide has receded that it’s transformed into this extraordinary land and sky-scape.
