I’m currently enrolled in a class called Drawing as Artistic Practice. In this class we don’t worry about things like perspective, proportions, lighting and shading or drawing straight lines and what have you (though we did do an exercise on lines for other purposes). A lot of what we’ve done so far really defies the notion most people have of what drawing is. During class a couple of weeks ago, we were given three sheets of this beautiful grey Papeterie St-Armand hand-made paper after being shown examples of contemporary abstract drawing and told to do three drawings, either based on what we saw, or… whatever we felt like doing. The other two are what I did at home afterwards.
